THE MOUNTAINS ARE CALLING - I MUST GO - I WILL WORK ON WHILE I CAN, STUDYING INCESSANTLY.

“Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.” John Muir

RECENT WORK

Maki derives inspiration from mountain landscapes. Through her art, she captures the ethereal feelings of connection, advocating to preserve wild places for the future.

Parks shall grow and expand, they are under threat at times. We climb the cliffs to overview the beauty from high above and to see the birds flying below. Mountains are pure and strong impentus fo me.

My Places Series (2026)

Acrylic paintings on canvas,  61 x 96cm

I love ice climbing and this is an absolutely magical place, deep in the canyon, hidden from regular visitors. Quiet winter and frozen waterfalls have a special place in my heart.

Adventure, connection to nature, and mountain culture.

Through these paintings, I hope to preserve the character of wild places and encourage appreciation, protection, and stewardship of the landscapes that shape our experiences.

Fragile Resilience

Glaciers and prairie crocuses tell an interesting story. Prairie crocuses remind me of the fragility and resilience of many on this land. The three figures on the top share the same wild dream. We all are experiencing the fragile resilience when stepping out of our comfort zones.

This mountain view through prairie crocuses is connected to my first memory of seeing Mt. Louis and being impressed by the diamond shape and beauty of the mountain. I dreamed about climbing this sharp and challenging-looking peak. Climbing the mountain takes team work and requirs building friendships. It reminds us of our mortality and the need to appreciate every day and every moment. Just breathe, another deep breath, clear mind and have a pure connection with nature, wind, rock and ultimate trust in your partners. We all do our best. Everything can be over in a split second of falling rocks. Everything is changing and moving. Keep moving with the fow. Respect nature and protect the wild places on this planet. We are our passion, stories, time we have together.
